Am I in the wrong

My boyfriend takes like a 3 hour day trip to come see me once a week up at school, and this last time he wanted to spend the night because it was late and he was too tired to drive back home, but I have 2 roommates in my dorm who are girls and I was too scared to ask them if he can spend the night because it felt like an invasion of their privacy. He ended up being a little hurt that I couldn’t ask so I texted my roommates asking if it’s ok after her expressed he is upset. I’m just wondering if I should’ve texted them right away or if it’s fair that I was fearful of their response.
