Weaning baby off breast

My baby is 17 months old. Ive tried to wean her off before because i started working and would only feed her at night before bed. But she wouldnt drink any milk at all during the day. I tried pumping and giving it to her but she wont drink breast of whole milk at all. Sometimes i give her a small sip of my coffee when im drinking it out of a mug (its just a sip, i promise im not giving my kid coffee lol) so i figured hey let me put some milk on a mug and pretend to drink it. And it worked for like 5 mins then she figured out i was pretending and she saw it as a game after that. I tried that the following 2 days and she still thought we were playing. I stopped like 3 wks after i started my job because things just didnt work out and now were back to the same habit of her breastfeeding anytime i lay down. Ive seen moms say they just cut them off cold thrkey but im just nervous about my child nkt drinking any milk. Any advice?
