Tattoo advice

I’m wanting a tattoo of a flower on my arm and I need some advice on which way it is supposed to face. It’s on the inside of my forearm from my inner elbow down to my wrist. When I look down at it, should the flower stem be coming up my arm (toward my elbow) or down my arm (toward my wrist)? The artist said that most people make the stem go down so that when your arm is relaxed down at your side, everyone else would see it as a close growing from the ground/right side up. If I do that it will be upside down to me. What should I do?
