Who's in college and having too much fun?

Question

Does anyone else have way more drinks than usual now that you're in college , or get torn between this guy and that guy.. I mean I don't want to sound like a slut lmao but I do talk to plenty people and I am having way too much fun to where I'm avoiding my deep dark feelings. We're young right ? Am I doing it all wrong ? I don't know I just get lost and depressed here and there just wondering if anyone else feels this way

College is for getting a degree, not an STD. I'm a sophomore in college and I'm in a steady relationship. We both know that school comes first. My organic chemistry professor always tells asks us why we date in college. He says we should work hard now, make money with a good degree, and marry a sugeon, or a businessman, or someone successful. Which in part is true. School should come first. You're not gaining anything by getting drunk and hooking up with guys. If you find a good guy, then great! But if you have to pick, you probably don't care enough about either to get in a relationship.

​You are (or your parents are) wasting a lot of money putting you in college if your just going to drink it away.

​My boyfriend is still working on his associates and he's been trying for FIVE YEARS because he got lost partying.

I'm a first semester in college and I'm having the same problem as you. I have so much fun all the time partying every weekend and talk to all this guys but on the hand I'm feeling so guity and so depress at the same time. So I just started to take a break from everything and I'm actually doing a lot better. I don't have a strong experience or anything but I did been through a lot in just three months of college but I also learn a lot from it. So my advice would be take a deep breath and just relax a little bit. You don't want all the unnescery college experience to make you feel depress and stress even more.

I did my first year of college and it got me into some really shitty situations. I ended up leaving the school and coming home and I don't party anymore. I'll go out occasionally, but college is about figuring out what you want to do with your career and future. Honestly, I wish I could take back my first year of college. I had way too much fun and was so stupid and was too trusting when I got drunk. As long as you're being safe and aware, then whatever, have fun! But like honestly, you'll probably just look back at those times once you're past that phase and be like omg what was I thinking?? I know that's how I feel. Especially since my parents were basically paying for me to do the exact opposite of what I should've been.😣. If you can juggle school and partying and boy drama and still do well in school, then who cares? I'm just not that kind of person and I really don't think most people are.

Hey sweetie! It's nice to know that kids are still having fun! However, college is expensive and very beneficial if you take it seriously. On the other hand, some kids take it too seriously and don't have any fun at all. I am 21 and married and also in college working on my last three semesters to get my bachelors! I still have fun I college while also making As and Bs. I have clean fun where me and my friends eat lunch together and laugh and carry on. What you have to realize us that there should be a balance between work and play. If one interferes too much with the other, you either have a panic attack or flunk out! So I say, have fun! Be adventurous! But also be safe and make mature decisions. There is such thing as one too many and flunking out will cause regret later in life. I hope I helped! God bless you (:

I think i understand. I went through the having fun but with random bouts of depressed thinking thing over summer. Personally, i did what i wanted and eventually stopped having the depressed thinking. Though i also stopped having the fun, college and work take up too much time now. I dont know if there was a connection with both stopping or not.

Have fun but moderately! I hate to be that person but it’s true. 
Have nights out, but also prioritise your work. It can be hard to balance it all but college is all about decision making and multi tasking.
Also, trust me, a lot of college students and teenagers in general feel lost at this age. I have too. It can be so hard when you’re faced with different dillemas at once, even if they’re small, they can feel overwhelming and cause emptiness in your heart. Trust me, I get it. Having so much freedom and time to party, drink and focus on things that are minuscule but seem so major can cause a lot of confusion, hurt and over thinking. 
Just take it one step at a time. Make yourself lists, be productive but also don’t be hard on yourself. 
Most of all, remind yourself that your journey is different to every else’s. You are YOU. You will experience things that are in a sense tailored to you. 
Don’t be hard on yourself, think back, and allow yourself to heal, and forgive yourself when you make decisions that you regret later.

It's great that you're having a good time, but don't lose your focus! Often
times (especially in first year) we forget that we're there to get an education, not to go party/get drunk/attend every single Pubnight out there. I got very distracted in first year and the consequences weren't pretty, I'm lucky I didn't get kicked out, but boy I learned from that. Always be aware of who you want to be in the future and have that as your motivation to stay focus and work hard ;) all the best girl!!
