How did you tell your boss/bosses?

Question

Any suggestions on HOW and WHEN to tell your boss/bosses of your pregnancy? In my situation, i support 4 VP's so i have more than one person to tell. Just trying to figure out ways to tell them and when would be the best time. Any suggestions would be helpful ;)

I didnt tell them. They asked when it became obvious.

I told them right after I found out. Which was not quite 4 weeks. It was an accident lol. I worked as a Physical Therapy Tech and worked for a short time with a woman who had shingles and didn't tell us, so I casually asked my boss how contagious it was and he said "oh, it's not that contagious. Unless you're pregnant, then you're supposed to stay way far away from people that have it." I burst into tears and told him I just found out lol. He was really great about it and told me he was glad I told him because if anyone came in with a rash or being sick I needed to steer clear. You'd be amazed at the people that come in with highly contagious stuff going on and we had to send them home. Anyway, I'd just let them know around 12 weeks or later, whenever you're comfortable.

I told my boss immediately because I had a lot of appointments in the first few weeks. If your pregnancy isn't impacting your work, you can probably wait until 12 weeks!  My manager is remote so I was just like...IM PREGNANT! If you have a good boss, they will be supportive! Especially if they want you to come back after MAT leave ;)

With my second, I honestly thought he knew. The bump, the talk of baby shower, the name discussion, due dates, having him order me larger uniform shirts, THE BUMP! Nope. I was around 7 months and brought up maternity leave and he flipped out saying he didn't know I was pregnant. I pointed to my belly and said "dude?!" We had a good laugh.
With third (new boss, who had taken over the day I came back from leave), I was in tears and all kinds of emotional and he asked what was wrong. So I told him I was pregnant. He laughed at me. Then he gave me a hug and said that I shouldn't be upset because all babies are a gift from God (he's very religious) and that he was very happy for us. And the only "restriction" he gave me was that I had to promise to take a full 6 weeks since it would be my third cesarean. He knew I'd try to go back early again. With current, another manager had just told him that she had taken some tests and they were all positive and she had an appointment to confirm it. And when the three of us were talking, I said "well you should stay away from the water!" He didn't catch on. He just said "you know I only drink bottled water." Went straight over his head. So when he came back in a few days later, I said again. "Don't drink the water." He laughs and says "what's with you and the water?" And at that moment it clicked. His whole face changed. At first I thought he was going to vomit but then he grinned and said congratulations. Now he's trying to figure out how to work out the schedule because the other manager is due June 25. I'm due July 21. And since he only has 5 managers covering 7 shifts, he's really wanting to have someone to cover while we are out. Especially if she has to wait as long as before. But he's already said unless our doctor puts us on leave early, he will let us work until we pop again. :-)

I waited until I was 16 weeks and could no longer hide my bloat/bump in my uniform. I work in the World's Largest Hooters, so I told them i would prefer the stresses of a smaller store. (I manage/waitress half of the time so they were a lot more excepting than I thought they would be about moving me.) HR said it was good to get all of the paperwork out of the way early.
