Induced for gestational diabetes

For anyone that has been induced for GD what happens once you go into the hospital as far as food? My doctor told me to eat normally all day and then to arrive at the hospital around 5pm. I believe I'll be getting cervidil and then pitocin later but I have read that you cannot eat once admitted to be induced. I will literally not be able to function if I can't eat after 5pm until I give birth. Anyone been in this position before that can give me some insight? I would think that I can still eat with cervidil and that once they start pitocin Id have to just be limited to fluids and ice chips.
