In Canada, friend's psychiatrist just called place of work

And told the receptionist that because of her schizophrenia she was required to come to the hospital for an appointment.. She's embarrassed she wanted that kept quiet at work. Is it against HIPAA to disclose that? I'm shocked this happened and I want to help find out
