Endometrioses?

What is endometrioses symptoms? Are there tests for this?

I had my surgery a month  ago. 
My symptoms were severe cramps every month and pain when evacuating. The cramps were so severe that I couldn't get out of bed. 
It took me 2 years to discover I had endometriose. 
I did all kind of tests but the only test that gave the diagnosis was the pelvis MRI scan.

Sometimes it can be seen on ultrasound. Most often diagnosed by signs and symptoms. The only definate is laparoscopic exploratory surgery, but not all specialists are willing to go this route. Be firm if you do!

Thank you for all the help! Sometimes I have painful periods but not bad enough to be hospitalized, only if its certain positions and he goes deep doesn't hurt (sorry for the tmi) and my periods are usually irregular....so I kind of have some symptoms but not consistently or to the same extreme....I was just curious if it could be a possibility...

My doctor performed a laparoscopy on me to diagnose my endo. Prior I was taken to the hospital in an ambulance cause my pain during my cycle. On day two usually. There wasn't a scan to confirm the diagnosis however it was fixed surgically and now I feel great. Good luck

I had an abnormal pelvic exam with irregular periods and pelvic pain during sex. My doctor did a lap as well.

Just realised I forgot to answer about tests. 
The only way of knowing 100% is to have a laparoscopy, which is quite invasive. They usually test for everything else it could possibly be first, and if nothing comes up they'll do the lap.

A friend of mine has this and the main symptom is very painful periods.
She isn't trying to get pregnant, so she is on the pill full time (skips the 'sugar pills'). Her doctor said that by suppressing her cycle the endometriosis can't build up. 
Unfortunately the only thing that has helped her involved surgery.
