We have two dogs! One which we got when he was a puppy and another dog who is over a year. A lady was giving her away in August because she couldn't keep her due to her daughter having allergies. We didn't have enough time to get her fixed because by the time she ended up pregnant by our dog which is part shihtzu. We weren't planning on ever getting another dog so why our male was never neutered! She had 5 puppies which 4 went to good loving homes! The rest went earlier because they were well advanced in everything. They had so much personality and abilities at such a young age except one. She wasn't eating on her own yet or barely drinking. She was the only one left and a lady gave us a 50$ deposit on her and she was planning on staying much longer! She was the biggest sook so needed a huge amount of attention,she always wanted to be up with you and to cuddle. She's still like it! She loved our cats and loved to play. She loved her mommy and daddy and would always play with him. My mom was concerned because she liked to play by biting and this women had two other dogs. One was a shihtzu and the other was a fairly big dog and my Mom didn't know how well she would get along in a new environment because she was incredibly attached to us because she was with us by herself for so long. The women wouldn't answer till about 2 weeks later and replied 'I already told your daughter this' (My other sister) We were only charging 150$ for the puppies because they are mixed breeds and it's rather affordable than the regular price people sell mixed breeds(400$) long story short.. We fell in love with her and we just couldn't let her go. We are huge animal lovers and spending so much time with her just by herself made her open up and she was attached to everyone too. We informed the lady of our decision and asked for her email so we could do a E-Transfer and refund her money back. She did get her money back but later messaged back saying we broke her daughters heart and we could get in trouble for basically not giving her the puppy. We gave her a refund!! We did not keep her money and I don't think she fully understands where we are coming from even though my Mom informed her. She is a single woman with two dogs and a 7 year old daughter with NO car. She didn't even have a way to get her till yesterday. If she was going to a home we wanted her to go to someone who was capable of driving her to the vet in case of emergency and be able to afford her needs and vet. She didn't have money for her for a quite a while till she got her welfare cheque. I'm hoping I won't get negative comments and people understand but can we really get in trouble for this? We live in Canada.
