What to expect Coloscopy and Cervical Biopsy?

I had an abnormal pap and have a Coloscopy and cervical biopsy scheduled. I just want to know what to expect. Should I take off of work that day or will the cramping be minimal. Did you have any limitations a couple days after?

I had a colposcopy a year ago and then the laser procedure called LEEP. The colposcopy wasn't painful, I just had some mild cramping after. I was a little woozy after my LEEP procedure because they give me a local anaesthetic and I didn't have breakfast. But I was fine after I had something to eat and went back to work. I just hope these procedures didn't affect my fertility. Still waiting for bfp.

Michelle, I asked a nurse if the leep thingy would affect my chances of having a baby (it only occurred to be to ask about 10 years offer). I asked if the scar tissue would be a problem (i have lots apparently) She said 'ohhhhh no, you'll just tare when you give birth'.  
I counted that as a problem lol.

I am a little bit nervous about ttc though. Especially as I've had cervical erosion in the last couple if years (one dr actually told me it looked like I had cancer when I went for a smear!). 
My dr said that will go once I get pregnant. It's hard to know what to believe.

I've had two and both times I went back to work right after. My only advice is to take a painkiller a hour or two before you go. It's a piece of cake!

I've had a few colpo's with biopsies. My most recent being about 3 months ago. With both I experienced a small amount of bleeding and some cramping. The cramps weren't nearly as bad as my usual menstrual cramps. Everyone is different though. I'd probably take the day off just in case.

I'd take the day off. I had a colposcopy 16 years ago, and they decided there were so many abnormal cells that they skipped the biopsy and did the laser treatment thingy there and then. 
I wasn't in much physical pain that I remember, but it messed me around a bit emotionally. Funny, as they gave me a booklet which said you may feel emotional before hand and I thought it was rubbish. Lol.

For me I had three done and I took a Tylenol before like an hour and I was fine.. My doctor told me to cough when she was doing the biopsy and after I felt fine.. I worked the same day just didn't lift do anything strenuous..

I had a colposcopy about 2 1/2 years ago and I personally would suggest taking the day off work. I was in quite a bit of pain and fairly uncomfortable both during and after. Good luck to you and hopefully the results come back okay!

I had a colposcopy only (I've had 3) - and each was different. One didn't hurt at all during but I was in a lot of pain after and the other two were the opposite.

If I were you id play it safe and take the day off. Good luck!
