Everyone warned me against giving my daughter my boyfriend's of four years last name since we weren't married and didn't even live together. It caused quite an upset with my family, most of whom are very Christian and don't believe in pre-marital sex anyway. My dad was really upset because he raised me by himself and I still live with him. He helps so much with my daughter and provides for her. My boyfriend and I were always on and off and he broke up with me and eventually moved on. Well, now he's married. Our daughter is two and she has his last name. He is involved in her life, he took me to court to get joint custody, and he does pay child support. But now my ex, our daughter, and his stupid wife all have the same last name, which kills me. Is this a bad thing? How can I explain it to her when she's older? Should I have it changed?
