Finally!
My little guy is 1 week old today and after an unplanned c-section, we've had a lot of challenges with breastfeeding this past week. Poor little guy lost over 1 lb while we were in the hospital. We had thought the nipple shield was helping but the nurses insisted it was preventing him from getting anything and made me try without it. Of course, he didn't want to latch without it and we had to move to me pumping and supplementing him formula. My milk still hasn't come in (yes, it's starting to worry me since its been so long) and I haven't been producing enough for him while pumping so we had to continue supplementing. Now that we are at home, I went back to trying to get him to latch with the nipple shield. Today, we finally had a successful breastfeeding session and I'm hoping he got enough since he fell asleep right after. Here's to hoping the lactation cookies and mother's milk I'm making later will help my milk come in so we can keep going. I want so badly to this for my son!
