Sad moment

The guy I have loved for a year is joining the army and my great grandma just died yesterday, I don't know if I can handle not seeing him that much he told me I'd be the first to know if he get deployed, I'm really happy he's doing something he wants to do. But I'll miss him way to much can anyone tell me how I'm supposed to handel this without having a total break down if he does get deployed?
