When it comes to this kind of topic you need to make your own choice... There are people that will say there's nothing wrong with it and others that will say there's everything wrong with it. If you decide to have it then great. If not then also great. It's your choice no one else's, now a days anything you eat/drink can harm yourself and your baby. People will judge you either way unfortunately. It's just like when you spank your child it's child abuse but when you don't spank your child then your letting them get away with everything and not being a parent and giving them proper guidance , either way people will have something to say about. Point is do what you believe is right/ok. :)

My first pregnancy I avoided it like the plague. This go round I'm a little more layed back and if I'm craving it, I'll pour myself enough to have a lil. I don't care if others judge me-- go head hah your opinion doesn't affect me. It's what works for me, but then again I'm a girl that really enjoys wine. when I'm not pregnant, I'm a wine connoisseur and I really enjoy the taste. Some will tell you no, some will tell you yes. Do what you feel like. I don't think you should have a glass every night but if the occasional small glass will make you happy, to each is own.

I would recommend the book "Expecting Better" to help understand some of the data and studies that have been done on this topic (and a lot of others like caffeine, sushi, deli meat, cat litter, etc). It's a pretty easy read. I'm an engineer and prefer to see the data and make my own decision, which is far too difficult to come by for all of the pregnancy don'ts you hear about from these boards and doctors. I thought this book helped explain the background of the conflicting recommendations we get as pregnant women. After reading the details of the study that most US doctors rely on for the "no alcohol ever" recommendation, I feel perfectly fine having a glass of red wine with a meal once a week. What they don't tell you about is that the primary study referred to, is that the women that drank moderately (1-2 glasses a week) and had children with issues, also reported using cocaine moderately while pregnant. Seems like there could be a conflicting factor there! Not saying that my way is the right way, but I found that understanding the data really helped me make the decision for myself based on my lifestyle and risk tolerance.

I will have one or two glasses every other week after the 20th week mark. It helped me sleep before I was pregnant and I LOVE wine. Plus it's got it's benefits, but I'm not going to drink it like I used to, obviously. I believe the others on here that say one or two glasses a week or two won't harm it, but it's your decision.

No, I will not be having any, and I love wine. I say do what you feel is best for your baby. I've heard a glass is fine in the third trimester when baby is more developed, but I still wouldn't take that risk.

Red wine is probably the one thing I miss most! I don't see anything wrong with a few sips here & there. However, I will continue to resist the urge for fear I would want more than a few sips. 😉

Better safe than sorry.. I wouldn't want to take that chance (I don't drink anyways), but if there is a possibility it could be unhealthy for the baby I would stay away!
