Natural Waterbirth?

Question

Your options? I'd love to have one but no one seems to be okay with my decisions and it's starting to upset me.. And when I say upset, I don't mean sad.. I mean, I'm getting pissed. It's my baby, my body. I think I get to decide. 
So how do you feel about it? (In a nice comment) 
Have you had one before?
Are you planning to have one?
I've been reading into it and have been pretty set on it for about 4+ ish years and now that I'm pregnant, why not?

I had a free birth at home and it was the best! The water helps with pain and it's relaxing. The hospital setting stresses the crap out of me (anxiety problems). It was so relaxing and clam, my baby didn't even cry when he came out, he just looked around. I like doing things my way and a my own speed. Also you are less likely to rip anything if you have a water birth.

Why are they not okay with it? My midwife told me that she thinks everyone should have a water birth (due to the relaxation, less complications and stress level of you and the baby) but off course she also said you have to be the "water birth kinda person" which not everybody is.

I'm going to at a birthing centre to have a natural water birth and the only persons in te room will be my midwife and SO. I would say go for it, but do choose a professional with experience because it is different than a "normal" birth. (Think about checking the baby underwater etc)

Don't ever settle for a medical professional that doesn't make you feel comfortable, it will just add more stress. Keep looking for someone that you trust and shares your ideas, I promise you it will be worth it. Good luck!

I plan on a water birth at home possibly unassisted. I'm all for the natural state of things. I would rather be in the comfort of my own home surrounded by the ones I love than in a germ filled hospital with people I don't know. My husband wasn't for the idea at first but is coming around to it the more information I give him to read upon. Try not to let other negative comments get to you. If a water birth is what you want and feel this is best then you do it. It is your body and you know it better than anyone. You can always tell them you have a back up plan in place in case of anything and that might help with there comments but if not do what's most comfortable for you. Best of luck sweetie

I didn't plan on having one. I was very against it. Thought it was gross and I didn't want to risk infection. I got in the tub to help labor pains and never got out. Lol. It wasn't gross like I thought it would be. I also ended up having a very big baby so I was happy I did it since it can reduce the risk of a severe tear. My babies shoulders got stuck so I had to change positions while his head was sticking out and I'm sure that repositioning on land would have been much harder.  Overall, I'm surprisingly happy I did it.

We are having a home water birth and this is our first! We have definitely gotten unwanted "advice" and comments but we ignore them. If they aren't pushing my baby out of their vagina, their opinion is irrelevant.

If there was a birth center in my town I would absolutely have a water birth. However we will be delivering at the hospital on base all natural with some of the labor done in the shower there. Sadly no tub. But there are so many positives associated with water birth, don't let the negatives get to you momma :) Your body, your baby, your birth ❤

It's what i would personally want. I looked into local, water birth experienced, midwives a while back and pretty much made up my mind. Should i get pregnant, i would be set in that decision, regardless of what family & friends might try saying to persuade or fear monger.

If it's what you want, then go for it.

I would love a water birth, but being in my tiny townhouse wouldn't be "stress-free" for me. (Just thinking about it now, the tub would have to be in this large walkway behind the couch unless I'd want to move furniture... Our laminate floors are already warped from a toilet-breaking incident... Then there's prep and cleanup which I'm sure the midwife would take care of, but I'd feel guilty...)

I wouldn't mind a water birth at my hospital. They have birthing tubs there. I think I'd be more relaxed in a clinical setting, near my doctor. If there's a birthing center or hospital near you that offers birthing tubs, it might be a good compromise.

Your loved ones just want you and baby to be healthy, happy, and safe. Just like you do. No one is trying to run your life. They just have their own opinions and worries. No offense intended, but your birth choices are about more than just you. Your family is growing and it's natural for them to share their concerns and hopes with you. No matter how annoying it can be. Don't let their instincts to care for you ruin your labor experience. You're only stressing you and the baby out. Your anger doesn't affect the people who are making you mad.

I plan to have a water birth this time. My last labor I had planned a water birth but when I got to the hospital baby's heart tracing wasn't the ideal pattern they require for a water birth, so I stood and labored in the shower the whole time instead. Ends up it was bc the cord was wrapped around his neck but I was still able to push him out just fine and he was perfectly healthy. Only thing I hope to be different this time is to get the chance to labor and birth in the tub.
