That's impossible. Basis for a missed AF is: implantation was successful. Basis for implantation: ovulation and fertilisation was successful. Therfore you can be late because of a cyste, or a pregnancy or 'just' skip a cycle. But no IB spotting after missed period. 
​Spotting is maybe AF on her way or spotting in early pregnancy. Maybe see your doc to find out.
