Can you fly when high risk?

Question

I'm very over weight for me being pregnant and someone told me that if you are high risk pregnancy you can't go abroad? I just found out I'm pregnant the other day and I'm due in October. I'm due to fly out to Spain in June so I will be about 6 month gone and just wondering is this true? I'm panicking because we've paid loads for this holiday :(

I would ask your dr and definitely see about zika virus there too!

I work with an airline and have actually had a few ladies ask me questions about what happens if they go into labor on the plane, or there is an issue, etc. The truth is, if something happens, they will immediately see if there's a doctor on board and attempt to do an emergency landing. 
If you're condition is something that you feel places you at risk of an emergency situation, I wouldn't advise going. 
But if you're doctor told you you're at a general higher risk for being overweight, I wouldn't think it'd be too much of a problem. Just keep in mind the cabin pressure, and amount of time you will be seated. There is a reason women who are further along in their pregnancy are not advised to fly. 
So just check with your doctor!

I think it just depends. You can be obese and not be high risk! I was high risk and flew to florida at 32 weeks for vacation and my dr just told me what to look for and if something was wrong immediately go to the er.

Due to my high risk type I cannot fly or go outside the area my doctor serves. You should check with your doctor on what your specific restrictions are. It could be different for you.

Due to me being high risk after 20 weeks my ob did not want me more than an hour away from the hospital.  I would check with your doctor.
