Ear piercings for a baby girl?

I am curious if you have, would or recommend a baby girls ears being pierced. I hadn't ever thought about it but my MIL says she will take her to get them done and I am curious what everyone else has done or thoughts?

We will not be piercing her ears until she is old enough to decide she wants them done. In my opinion its her body her choice.

I wouldn't allow my MIL or my own mother to get my child's ears pierced. Needs to be a parents only type decision.

I used to be a professional body piercer and I will not be getting my child's ears pierced until they are old enough to get them professionally done. Do some research on those piercing guns. They're EXTREMELY unsanitary, impossible to clean, the people using them have extremely minimal training, and they are harmful to the skin because of the way the piercing happens. To each their own, but I suggest doing some research.

My mom got my ears pierced when I was only about 3 months old. I honestly don't like the idea of piercing a baby's ears. I want to wait until my daughter is old enough to tell me whether or not she wants them pierced. I don't want to force it on her. Plus waiting until she's older to pierce them (if she wants it done) would be a good way to teach her some responsibility by having her take care of and clean the piercings.

My mom did it as a celebration when I got my period. It's was much more meaningful and special to me. I'm having a boy but if I was having a girl I would do it like that.

I used to pierce ears as part of my job, I pierced many many babies at 3 months old. It's easier to distinguish between a boy and a girl with the earrings (because even though your little lady will be decked out in pink from head to toe with a big ass flower headband in a onesie that says "Daddy's Little Girl" some people will still not get that she's a girl) and they won't remember getting them done at all, and the crying stops sooner. However, I also remember many little girls getting their ears pierced as a reward or a right of passage and it was very memorable. So it is totally up to you, and what you want for your daughter :)

My daughter is 9 and we took her when she was 2-3 months old. I'm having a baby girl so we plan to do the same with her. Everyone has different opinions and beliefs and it's your baby so you will have to decide what's best. Good luck!

I asked my hubby what he thought about peircing our daughters ears and was like "okay" lol. I had mine pierced at 2months old, by my doctor. I plan on doing the same!

I've always thought it was okay until I found out I was having a girl. My SO said he wants her to be able to choose when she's ready. So I think we'll be waiting.
