Cervix and dilation?

I got my 38 week check up on Wednesday and my doc told me I wasn't dilated at all but checked my cervix and said it is soft and ready. I'm also supposed to be induced on Monday due to certain complications. Have you ever been told your cervix is ready to give birth but haven't been dilated at all? That's a little confusing to me.

Cervical checks are so intrusive and predict nothing about labor. A lot of Dr's aren't even doing them anymore. They are a terrible indicator of labor. When you are ready, and baby is ready, your body will change, and fast.

I havent been told that. I was told i was 2 cm dilated and extremely soft. Wishing you all the best

I have! I'm going through it right now. I'm 37 weeks and he still hasn't dropped. I haven't dialated any but my cervix is soft. My doc said the same thing to me ! It so frustrating!

I am 38 weeks 6 days today. Yesterday I had my last dr appointment, dr. Checked my cervix, it's soft and short, she felt babies head down but no dilation. Tomorrow I will be induced, really scared. Please keep us in your prayer, thanks ladies!

No they still haven't checked on me and I'm 35 weeks long.
