How bad does child birth hurt?

Feel free to post your birth stories. With and without epidural. I can't imagine pushing a tiny human out but I really want to do everything as natural as possible!

Everyone is different and no one is better or weaker than another for doing it without or with drugs. I wanted a natural birth but my daughter was back to back causing severe back pain and constant contractions. I'm not exaggerating there was literally no gaps between them. I was in labour for 24 hours and over the course of that time I used a warm bath, gas and air, dynomorphine, and then the epidural which had to be topped up 3 times because it wore off so quickly and whilst it helped completely with the contractions it didn't even touch the back pain. In the end after an hour and a half of pushing and two attempts with forceps my girl wouldn't budge so I had an emergency c-section.

I am all for women who want to and do birth naturally without any meds but after being through it I have no desire to put myself through that kind of pain again so would definitely have an epidural this time if I attempt a vbac.

I have given birth natural and med free twice its the hardest most reward experience ever. You push your body past all the physical and emotional limits you have and in return you're given the most euphoric feeling in the world

Depends on your pain tolerance. My epidural didn't work right and I was out of my mind in pain. I'm a VERY quiet, internal person and apparently I was screaming that I was going to die. Very embarrassing. Took me almost ten years to do it again. I had a very bad experience with my nurses and other complications as well though. My advise would be to go into it with an open mind, try natural and expect it to be horrible. That way if it's not you can be pleasantly surprised and not traumatized like I was! Lol :) seriously though, most experiences aren't so bad.

I had an epidural with both kids. The first I labored at home for 24 hours before going in. I went from about a 2 to an 8 on the pain scale. With the second I labored at home for an hour before going in. It started at a 5 and was at 10 by the time we got to the hospital. Once that epidural is going I didn't feel anything.
