Vbac?

Question

Anyone have a csection their last time and want to try naturally and are terrified? .. I'm having really bad anixety for delivery either way I'm scared this time for some reason.

I had a c section almost 5 years ago with my daughter.  I'm hoping for a v back this time.  I won't know until it's almost time to deliver which way it will go. I've never experienced labor.  So that part is nice but the recovery of a c section sucks ass.

I am planning on a vbac and my doctor has been really supportive of it, even with my history. I had to have labor induced at 36 weeks with my son due to preeclampsia. I say induced but really they just sped it up because I was already at 5cm when I got to the hospital. Made it all the way to 10 cm before my doctor called it quits and told me I had to have a csection because I had been in labor for 18 hours and it was too dangerous to have me push with my blood pressure spiking.

My current doctor says that given the fact that I had been losing weight prior to getting pregnant, that my blood pressure has stayed steady, that I've had 6 years to heal from my csection (they believe that this lower the risk rupture during birth) and since I dilated fully during my last labor, that I have a good shot at a successful vbac.

I will say in terrified of labor pain. I will be refusing epidural/spinal block since I will have to go under general anesthesia anyway if I end up having to have a csection. But I have a lot of trust in my doctor and my husband has been really supportive so I feel reassured.

I am trying vbac this time. My first was born early due to preeclampsia so I am praying all goes smoother this time around. I am nervous also.

C-section was planned bc my daughter was breech. It was so calm and about as unstressful as having a baby can be.

Thank you for asking this. I keep talking to my dr/midwife about it at every appointment.  Part of me doesn't want to go through the recovery of a c-section again but I went through a miscarriage and D&C last feb and the pain was excruciating. I was basically having 4 minute contractions for hours and could barely walk myself into the hospital. I'm not sure how that compares to labor but I'm going to assume it's at least about the same. I'm sure an epidural would help once administered but I just don't know. I hadn't even given thought about the scars tearing! I was just more concerned with going through labor and then still ending up with a c-section. They have told me recovery is worse then because your body is then basically running two marathons. With my first, my water broke on it's own in the middle of the night and I ended up with a c-section 24 hours later. Labor progressed slowly and by the time it was finally time to push (18hours later) I was exhausted as I was only allowed to have Popsicles throughout the day. I pushed for 4 long hours before having an ultrasound which determined she was sunny side up. It was midnight by the time the cesarean was completed and my baby spent the first 7 hours of her life in the nursery while I slept through the night. I missed the first important hours with her and we both had a long recovery.

Part of me wants to plan a cesarean so I'm not so exhausted by the time my baby boy comes into this world and we can bond the way I'd like to but then again I don't feel like I'm giving myself a fair shot. My doctor says its up to me. I know each labor is different but I don't want to go through all of that again. I am so torn on what to do.

I had a c section four years ago and I'm expecting now and I'm not nervous yet because my son might be vaginal birth but it does freak me out sometimes cuz its like people don't know what it's like to have a c section it's horrible and the fact that it might open up scares me
