Induction

Ok, so I'm at 39+2 with no dilation, no contractions, no Braxton hicks, nothing. Doc started to talk today about induction at 40+6? I know that this is a bit down the road and believe me, I want an end in sight more than anything, and I know things can change before that, but I would really like to avoid an induction. I don't want a c-section or an epidural. I don't want to put my baby at risk with any unnecessary procedures. How long would you wait before being induced?
