OB/GYN ? What to get checked out.

Question

So I am sexually active but no Babies... I have an OB/GYN Appointment and I am not sure what I'm suppose to get done.. They said you only go there for a Pap Smear but Pap smear are for pregnant or after child birth women's.. Can some one help me out and e plain what I could get checked out ? Or Done ?

A Pap smear is not only for pregnant and after pregnancy!.. You are supposed to have one at least once a year!!..I think some women go twice a year!!…they check for a few different things that are important!

Pap smears used to be recommended for women every year reguardless of pregnancy. It's now been changed to every 3 so I definitely recommend getting one as I'm sure based on your assumption you haven't had one yet.

The doctor will want to talk to you about your medical history, and maybe ask a little about your sexual history. You'll disrobe from the waist down and they'll give you a paper robe to cover up. You'll likely get a breast exam, and the doctor will externally feel your abdomen/pelvis area. You will probably also have a pelvic exam, where the doctor will examine you vaginally. You might get a Pap smear, which can feel like a pinch but only lasts a second. That's probably about all.

New doc maybe? A pap is your annual lady doc visit. For them to say they don't do it sounds like laziness.  But!! I have heard from my doc recently they stopped doing them so often in young girls because of hpv. Itll show up n clear up within a few years for most so they dont want to treat something they dont necessarily need to. But I dont agree with this and neither do alot of docs.

So your age is a factor here too but id say go somewhere else.

Your technically only supposed to receive a Pap smear after youre 21. But I went in for BC once and they didn't do it. However I went a second time with a new OB and they did do it. I'm only 19. But you may get one regardless. Just know it's not that bad. Don't worry about it.

No you will get a papsmear if you are sexually active. That way they can check for abnormal cells and hpv all that. I'd get a blood panel done to check for stds if you haven't yet or recently.

If you are sexually active then yes on the Pap smear...they will do a breast exam, abdomen external exam and vaginal exam where they put one finger inside your vagina to feel if anything is going on in there. You are being proactive if you do this. They could detect a sexually transmitted disease early on if needed. I saw your quote... Body is a temple.. By going to the gyn you are making sure this temple you call your body stays standing! 🏰

It's for every female, especially if you're sexually active! It's very important to go. By doing a Pap test they an OB can inform you of any abnormal cells if present in cervical area. Otherwise you wouldn't know if there are any.
