Anyone heard of the husband stitch?

I'm 6 weeks pp and we haven't attempted sex yet. Part of it is I'm waiting for an appointment to get an iud inserted, but I'm also really scared to do it. I feel like my tear has been healed for quite a while but when I wash down there in the shower it feels different!  And when I look I swear I was stitched up smaller than I was before birth. I'd never heard of this happening but after some reading I came across 'the husband stitch'. Which is basically stitching the woman up tighter so she doesn't feel loose during sex.
My midwife never mentioned this as an option, but because of complications I ended up with a male resident at my delivery and he ended up doing my 8 stitches. I can't help but wonder if he just went ahead and did this or if it was an accident.  Either way I'm terrified this will make sex very painful. Anyone have any experience with this?

I believe the 'husband stitch' is antiquated and not widely used anymore (thankfully), but I guess you never know for sure.

I had a long second degree tear and a lot of stitches. Now that it's healed, it definitely looks and feels different because I have some scar tissue. I waited until almost 9 weeks postpartum to have sex because I was so scared that it would be terrible. Surprisingly, it was fine!

You could definitely ask your midwife about it, but it may just be scar tissue that's making things feel different.

I don't think the husband stitch actually exists. If you have a vaginal delivery (I did with my first) you end up being tighter than before because your body is usually a little overzealous with healing after the trauma. I was tighter for a good while, we just went slow after my 6w check up and things were back to normal fairly quickly. ☺

My husband was  Telling me about this husband stitch I only had I think 3 stitches, I'm really not sure, but it felt like one was at the top part of my vag by my clit. And I also was stitched up by a male resident. But they never told me anything about my stitches all they told me was I had a small 1st degree tear. I thought the stitches goes at the lower end near your bum whole.  But I'm a ftm. I'm only 2 wks pp so everything is still healing, even though I feel 20x better.

Had male Dr with first child. Think he gave extra stitch too. Sex was painful for a while but think it was scar tissue. Only 2 weeks pp now. Hope this time isn't as bad but had female dr this time. Don't think it's as tight as first time.
