Asking mom ?

my mother and i aren't too close. I am 16 and having sex i don't know how to ask to go on the pill. We never have conversations like this and i feel really awkward . Any tips?

As a mother she shouldn't be upset about you taking responsibility & getting protection.

When I went to mom at 16 for birth control she flat out told me no. If your mom does the same thing you can go to Planned Parenthood and they will give you birth control without her permission.

I have always been close with my mom but never when it came to talking about sex and stuff. When I was having sex at 18 with my boyfriend I knew that condoms were a good form of protection but I knew the pill would make it even safer. It was awkward as hell to bring up but she understood. She was kind of upset since we are Catholic and should be waiting till marriage, but she saw that I was responsible enough to come to her and be open about it.
It may be awkward to bring it up but it is the mature thing to do. The way I looked at it: I can either have this conversation now or have the "I'm pregnant" conversation later. I went with the awkward conversation lol

I was never super close to my mom, but the whole thing actually brought us closer together. 
Just be upfront and tell her you'd like to go on birth control.

I would be upfront about it, but I'm also close with my mom so I don't know. If your mom seems like the type who's chill with it, talk to her :)
