Brown discharge??

Hi guys!

I have pcos and I have been trying to concieve with my husband for the past year. Well tonight I realized I have brown jelly like discharge. I haven't had a period in a year around this time last year.

What is brown discharge mean?

Lex, brown blood is usually old blood. Having brown blood does not signify a period or ovulation-- which means that TTC is literally impossible! Heck, even a regular period doesn't mean ovulation for us PCOS ladies, darn anovulatory cycles!! If you have PCOS and irregular cycles (which I do), I'd recommend going to your OB GYN and getting a referral for a reproductive specialist. You should at least get bloodwork done to test all your hormones, insulin, blood sugar etc. That way you can get some insight into what your body needs. If needed, they can also do an HSG test to check the smoothness of your uterus and openness of your Fallopian tubes. Also worth it to get your SO's sperm checked to make sure all is well on his end too. Feel free to reach out if you have questions!

You have endometriosis if you aren't getting a period regularly, once a year isn't a good sign unless you're on a birth control to prevent your period from coming. Women with endometriosis will have bits and pieces of their uterine lining peel away and exit the body in vaginal mucus which can appear as a brown discharge. Perhaps discuss your options with you OBGYN?
