What are your thoughts on this? Not sure how I feel about it.

My son was born by csection and is so healthy it's ridiculous lol. He's been sick maybe 5 times in his life and he'll be 7 soon. I was born vaginally and I was a very sickly child. I'm slightly better as an adult but I still get sick pretty easy. It's interesting but there is so much that can be contributed to a kids health. Not just gut microbes, but genetics, nutrition, and environment play a big role.

interesting article for sure.  It would be great to see where studies goes in terms of following children long term and determining the outcomes for each group.

Interesting theory, but I doubt being exposed to vaginal microbes has much effect on the baby's health.

My son was born by emergency c-section, and he is totally healthy! I was born vaginally, and had a lifetime of allergies, allergy shots, asthma, etc etc!

I will say this: of my three who were born via cesarean, two are in excellent health. The third lives with her father in house with smokers and other risk factors for poor health. She and her sister who was born vaginally both have the same health problems. I feel there are outside factors as well. And my son is the only one who has ever been over weight. I was an uneducated teen mother who relied on chicken nuggets and ramen noodles. Now that I know better, he is a much healthier weight and no longer in "obesity" range...unlike me (born vaginally AND breastfed.)

I've heard this before. I can see how it has some merit, but I'm not sure enough to make a huge difference. I had my first vaginally and my second by C and I see no difference in their health. No allergies or asthma or anything to speak of for either child.

What are your thoughts on this? Not sure how I feel about it.
