Is it common?

So I've read quite a few stories of women losing their babies in the middle of the second trimester. What are the odds? I'm not trying to be insensitive I just have panic attacks about this sort of thing, and am wondering my odds

I lost my first at 22+5 last year due to something called chorioamniocentisis where the membranes, baby, placenta, and amniotic fluid gets an infection amd the body forces preterm labor to get rid of the infection... I heard it happens in 1 in 400 yet the majority of them is at full term... Im being treated for incompetent cervix even though I.dont have any shortening, but given my history they treat me as high risk which is nice... Honestly.its like getting struck by lightening... Nothing can prevent it but its not terribly common.. Still hurts to lose someone you love so much...

Some women suffer from incompetent cervix, which usually happens around weeks 18-24. It's when your cervix is weak and can't handle the pressure of the baby so it begins to shorten and open. Unfortunately many women don't know this is happening so they go into premature labor. The chance is low, but it happened to my good friend so now that I'm 20 weeks it's always in the back of my mind!

Yeah, I've read at least four over the last few weeks of ladies who lost their babies in their 20th (ish) week. Scares me to death. I have an at home Dopplar that when I feel nervous or like I haven't felt him enough I listen. It's about every four days right now. I know your not being insensitive. My heart goes out to those mommies! It's so sad.

I have not ever read this or heard this... That's horrible 😢 I do know at 24 weeks they say the baby is viable should anything go wrong it could survive with help from doctors...
