Coughing til I puke??

Seriously going through the worst cold I've ever had. I'm coughing so bad my sides hurt and it's made me vomit three times. Has anybody's cough affected their gag reflex or do guys think it's something worse?? (I don't Have the kind of doctor I could just call and ask). Also what do you guys do for colds when we can't really take anything?

I am 28 weeks and am just getting over a very similar cough/cold. I pulled the muscles in both my sides from coughing so hard. I have been sick for more than a week despite two trips to the ER I had little to no relief until I saw my OB who said I could take robitussin during the day and cough syrup with codeine at night. She also gave the OK for me to take Tylenol for headache and fever. I also got some antibiotics on Friday that have finally given me some real relief. You should also use a warm mist humidifier and take hot steamy showers and sprinkle euchalyptus oil into the shower to help open up your airway. Feel better mama!! I know exactly how you feel right now!

Coughing also causes me to gag or vomit. There doesn't seem to be mug you can do to avoid it. My dr suggested Claritin to help break down the mucus but it hasn't helped me at all

Are you vaccinated against pertussis? Puking while coughing is often a sign of pertussis. Please let blood work do!

This happened to me, I had a nasty cold for a month. It was awful. I coughed and puked then coughed and puked more. My gag reflex is bad this pregnancy.

I started doing this around 26 weeks and did it all day long during weeks 30-36. It's finally let up and I'm 39+1. I still get it during the day but nowhere near as often as before. My doc says its excess saliva that's produced during pregnancy. Sometimes it makes me puke too. But it's mostly water and saliva.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. (Well not glad). I googled it and whooping cough kept coming up and that freaked me out.

This happens to me! If I ever get into a coughing fit it always ends in me vomiting. & having a cold or sore throat just makes it far worse. Unfortunately I haven't a clue as to what to do for it. So I kind if just cough/vomit/suffer 😕
