Doula?

Question

First time mama considering hiring a doula. I'm interested in natural childbirth and I think this could be a great way to find support in that. Does anyone have any experience with a doula? I'll be delivering with a regular OBGYN, not a midwife. Thoughts??

I actually am a doula. I think it's a great idea to have someone to support you during this time to ensure that the birth plan you have gets carried out. I do recommend a midwife though. Generally the practices of eastern medicine get in the way of a natural birth. Whereas a midwife is already in harmony with said practice less stress to you if the baby wants to delay than if it were a ob/gyn and they want to impose c-sections and medicines. However that's my humble opinion. Good luck!
