Have you heard of lotus birth?

I just became aware of this and I couldn't do it. It's where you don't cut the babies umbilical cord and you carry around the placenta attached to the baby until it naturally falls off. Could you do this?

No, I won't be doing this.

I've heard of it.  I won't be doing it.  I'm leaving it attatched for 10 minutes because it takes 2-10 minutes for the blood to leave the placenta and enter the baby so keeping it attached longer is unnecessary it will literally just sit there and rot. Even animals in the wild don't leave it attached more than q few minutes but they eat it we cut it.

Hospitals don't recommend it usually. Delaying cord clamping is fine and definitely has its benefits, but lotus birthing is not beneficial or necessary. Plus it's just kind of gross.

I feel like that would be very uncomfortable for baby. And not to mention trying to clothes, feed, hold the baby would be very difficult as well I feel like. Not something I would ever consider but to each their own.

It's going to be hard enough to carry around a newborn while taking care of my two year old so I can't see how I would be able to lug around a hunk of slowly rotting flesh as well.
