Can I choose to be induced because of +GBS?

Question

So I know that GBS is very rare to pass on to your baby but I don't care to risk it. I have my 38 week appointment tomorrow and I want to be induced to ensure I get all the antibiotics before my baby comes. I don't think it's too unreasonable, do you? I'm gonna ask my doctor tomorrow but I'm hope he says yes because Ive never done well with odds. Do you think he will??

I've tested positive too. So did all my friends. None of us have/will be induced for that reason alone. Unless you're known to pop out a kid fast(like, really fast) there's no reason to induce. The meds they put you on will clear it out in 15 minutes.  I'd say it's best to keep the kid cooking till he's ready, or late and need an inducement for other reasons. :). I'd say inducing before kiddo is ready is more harmful than waiting.

You can ask, but I doubt he'll induce you. Especially before 40 weeks if you have no other medical problems. Like you said, the chances of it affecting your baby are very small. Even without antibiotics. If there's no serious medical reason why your baby can't stay in until they come on their own, then doctors won't induce. And if they do induce without serious medical reason before 40/41 weeks, I would be a little wary of the doctor.

If you induce and baby isn't ready they'll be more likely to get sick because their little body wasn't ready to fight the infection. As long as your water hasn't broken you're fine without antibiotics and when it does break you just need the meds within the hour of it breaking. It's so much safer to keep them inside and continue getting stronger than rip them out early and hope for the best.

The only one I tested positive with was my first. He came at 42+1. It's not a reason for induction. And as another said if your Dr is okay with inducing for that reason alone I'd be concerned. 
Having the antibiotics administered takes very very little time. Induction is actually going to add to your risks so I don't understand the point.
