Friday Feb 12th I had what I thought were Braxton hicks around 7:30 pm that went through the night. Saturday Feb 13th, right around the same time, I saw some blood in my discharge. Sunday Feb 14th things started feeling tight, almost as if someone was squeezing me from the inside. Although at the time I had just thought it was all going smoothly. I had a regular scheduled doctors apt on Mon Feb 15th at 10 am. I told my doctor everything from the past weekend, so she decided to check me out. Turns out I was 50% effaced and 2-3 cm dilated at the time. She then sent me to my local hospital to get a non stress test done to see if my son was closer to my cervix than expected. He was ready to come see us... I was then whisked away via medicak flight about a 20-30 min flight away to a hospital that specializes in pre term labor and delivery. They had me on a magnesium drip for 2 days and also gave me two shots of steroids to insure that our sons lungs would work more properly - better than if I didn't receive them. Contractions had stopped, however after they took me off the mag drip later on Wednesday Feb 17th at 2pm, contractions started again later in the evening up until I gave birth all naturally on Feb 18th at 2:26 AM. When born he was 3 lbs 2 oz and 15 1/2 inches long. I couldn't be more in love with my baby boy. He's so perfect I don't know how to take it all in. Currently I'm in the process of letting my milk come in, as well as pumping every three hours so he can get what he needs from me. I love him so much it's so hard to see him so little, but doctors says his size is well for being born at 31 weeks exactly. I have faith this was all apart of Gods plan. He's absolutely the love of my life, I couldn't see myself doing it any other way.
