Can u choose to have a c section?

Can u choose to have a c section and if so people who have had it done how bad is the plain after and what is it like?

No negativity here, but I'm curious why you would want to choose to have major surgery unless it was an emergency or have an existing medical condition?

Usually you can't. If you have a healthy pregnancy and a good doctor, they won't let you have a c section without cause. If you have a bad doctor they might be willing to make up a reason for you... But c sections are more dangerous than vaginal births and therefore should be avoided unless there is a problem with mom or baby. If you get a c section you're much more likely to get an infection for example, and the recovery takes much longer.

It depends on the doctor, but yes you can. I discussed both with my doctor and she let me choose. Me and my husband decided that csection was best for both me and our twins. So I had a csection scheduled for 38 weeks. I ended up needing an emergency csection at 33 weeks for serious complications. It wasn't bad at all. The majority of the pain I had was from my complications and the meds I had to be on for those complications. I was up and moving the next day walking to the NICU. My csection was later in the afternoon/almost evening, if it had been in the morning I would have been up and moving the same day. I only had incisional pain for about a week. Coughing hurt and peeing hurt in the beginning. Going from laying down to sitting up was difficult for the first few days. I'm 3 weeks pp now and feel great. The only restrictions I have are not lifting greater than 15 pounds for 6 weeks and no sex or tampons for 6 weeks. I can hold both of my twins at the same time and still be within my weight restriction. I haven't had any problems taking care of them by myself while my husband is at work

In Texas they typically don't let you chose. I had one due to complications and honestly the pain was very minimal. I was up and moving around that same night.  The worse part was the first time I went to the restroom. I remember thinking to myself this is no where near as painful as everyone said.  It is major surgery tho and I would never had chosen to do it.

I don't know why you would.  I watch them at work all the time & there's no way in hell I would ever want one.  It's a major surgery & the baby doesn't get all the fluid pressed out of its lungs so breathing can be more difficult for them.  Plus it's a major surgery with risks of infection & other complications.  It's also a much longer recovery time.  I'm sticking with the natural way

I think you can only choose if you've already had one before. I had to have an emergency c section because my sons heartrate kept dropping every contraction. The recovery really wasnt as bad as people say. But it also depends since everyone's body is different. I was up and moving and taking care of my son just fine. And i went ahead and chose to have another c section with this baby. Mainly because i already know what to expect.
