Metformin and a late period

I just started on Metformin about 2.5 weeks ago for my recently diagnosed PCOS. Now my period is 12 days late (CD 45). My OB said that this should normalize my
cycle but I feel like I'm in the same boat of waiting again. Is this normal? Has anyone else experienced this?
