Umbilical cord??? Please help!!

I'm totally freaking out! I had my baby 2/13. I went to change her a few minutes ago and her cord is barely hanging there and there's puss underneath it! Isn't it a little early for it to come off? It does smell, but the smell has been there and the pediatrician said to just leave it alone, dead skin smells. I also was told not to use anything on it.

Please help! I'm a FTM and it's making me panic that something might be wrong.

Some babies fall off early. My dr told me to use a qtip and rubbing alcohol. It shouldn't have puss or smell.

It's kinda early but it's not supposed to smell. If you have a pic the women on here can tell you if it's infected or not.

With my son the dr told us to put rubbing alcohol on it with a q tip. It shouldn't puss or smell

You shouldn't use anything on it unless directed by your doctor. Alcohol will kill off the new healthy  healing cells. Clean with warm water and dry. Sometimes there can be pus and/or blood when falling off. Think of it like a scab. Just keep an eye on it. :)

My sons smelled terrible! I freaked out bc I thought there was puss and took him to urgent care. Dr said it was completely normal! It fell off a few days later :)
