Acupuncture to more naturally induce labor: has it worked for any STM's in the past?

Question

If labor doesn't start on its own in the next week, I'll be induced next Sunday at 39 + 2. Reason for induction is the most recent research for 40+ mothers (I'm 44) is to not allow them to get to 40 weeks due to stillbirth results for this extreme AMA (advanced maternal age) group.

Anyway, I want to avoid Pitocin like the plague (and am hopeful for a med-free birth generally) so am hoping to induce labor more naturally and gradually over the next week. Started acupuncture today with this goal, and we'll continue the sessions throughout next week.

I'm pretty skeptical about acupuncture's effectiveness based on past experience for other conditions, but if STM's used it successfully in the past to induce labor .... I'd love to hear these stories!

Thanks for the alternative suggestions! Am seeing a chiropractor already, to help align baby for the optimal labor position.

But am really looking to hear from others that may have used acupuncture to induce labor in previous pregnancies ...

My midwife suggested a pedicure. No bad side effects and even if it doesn't work your feet will look pretty :)
