Circumcise or not? Husband insists but I don't know

Question

We found out that we are having a boy and I'm now faced with the question of cucurmsision. I'm from Europe and it's not a common practice to circumcise boys and all of my previous lovers were not circumcised. I live in the US now and my husband is circumcised and he says he wants the same for our son. Well I don't have a penis so I have no frame of reference here. I've been reading stuff on and off on the Internet but really can't make up my mind and thinking about leaving it to my husband. I know he will want it done. But I'm just not sure and I'm slightly worried about how my family will take it since back in Europe only religious reasons are normally at play when deciding to circumcise. I must say I am ethnically Hebrew but I'm not a practicing Jew so really no religious affiliation.

What's worse is that while researching the subject I've watched videos oh how the procedure is performed and it's just horrific. But again my husband is adamant about getting it done saying that they take the baby away and then boom the baby whines a bit when it's back and that's that.

Any others in the same boat?

I'm not in the same boat and I'm not telling you what to do I'm just gonna tell you my story. 
My husband is circumsiced so he decided he wanted our son to be. My son had it done at 2 weeks old, I was in the room and watched the entire thing. They number him with topical stuff and then started the procedure. My son just layed the looking at me as if nothing was going on. I'm glad that I decided to circumcise. My nephew was not circumcised and has already had one infection. 
I'm not against mothers that don't circumsice, obviously it's their choice. But in MY OPINION circumsion is better.

You're in a tough situation 😕 circumcision is quite common in the U.S.

I'm curcumcizing my son when he's born. Not just for my religious beliefs but also for health reasons. It prevents infections from that extra fold of skin. Men who aren't circumcised have to maintain it and keep it extra clean. Circumcision is such a quick simple process and it's done. I personally prefer men who are circumcised...I've dated a few uncircumcised men and to me it was gross. Smelled there(retained odor) and just odd looking. It's very common in the US for men to be circumcised so I'm just very used to it and prefer it. It's ultimately up to you of course. Just giving my opinion and it is more sanitary. If your husband is making it a big deal and it's really important to him, I would just do it 😊 Not worth the fight.

A man I am very close to told my mom to please have me come talk to him when it came to circumsizing my son. I did and what he told me broke my heart. His mother was stupid and made her decision not to circumcise based on it didn't look good anymore. He had problems with it all of his life and finally got it done when he was a man. He said the pain was unbelievable and the healing time was even worse. But, once it healed all of his previous problems completely went away. I ended up circumsizing my son and it was all smooth and good. His healed very quick even quicker than Drs said it would. If you have a good dr and you follow the treatment plan for it you shouldn't have any problems! (I know there are RARE circumstances) Every man I know husband included is circumcised but it's entirely your decision! I just wanted to mention the man I know because someone made a statement to let him choose to do it. It's not that simple.

We are circumcising our son! I've done research on it too. But my boyfriend wants it done too. No one else has a say except for you and your husband. If someone gets mad at you, then let them be. It's not their baby.

If we have a boy I already told my husband we will not circumcise him. My husband is circumcised but there is no point to do it. If men weren't supposed to have that extra skin then they wouldn't be born with it.

We aren't having it done.. We really don't see the medical necessity in having it done... Its also there for a reason..  To me it's the equivalent of taking out their adenoids and toncils because there could eventually be something that needs its removal... My husband had phimosis and actually had therapy to fix it... It doesn't need to be cut off..

At the time when I had my son my insurAnce wouldn't cover his circumcision and I didn't have the 400 bucks they wanted in their time frame.. My son is almost two and I've done so much research read so many horror stories etc that I'm glad I didn't get him one. My husband says he should have it and I said no I stick firmly to my answer too. Not my skin not my choice
