Vent - antenatal appointments and work.

I'm 29 weeks pregnant with twins. Recently my hospital and midwife appointments have become more frequent and I'm now required to go to growth scans in addition to general appointments.

The problem is, I live an hours drive away from my work, and my appointments are in the middle of the day and I'm there for roughly 1-3 hours (depending on what the appointment is). Until now I was booking half days off as holiday so I didn't have to worry about going into work afterwards (as I get paid for my appointments), but I've now ran out of holidays and they won't rollover until the new financial year in April.

I know it sounds like I don't want to go to work after an appointment, which isn't true. I just don't see the point in going into work for two hours when all I would be doing is checking emails then going home again.

The other girl I work with is pregnant and has way more appointments than I do, and lives closer to work, but she'll be given the whole day off, whereas I'm being told to come in!

I know work don't have to accommodate me that much but it would be nice if it was fair to all pregnant staff 😉

Check your contract or talk to HR about what can be done. Sometimes managers or those "in charge" lie. Most employers should make allowances for pregnant women. If not, then can you maybe make the midwife and hospital appointments for either first thing in the morning, or last thing in the afternoon? It's an inconvenience yes, but it's not forever

if an employer is making exception for one person letting her documented it not you but not you, that is illegal. they can't pick and choose who the rules apply to. my HR also sucks
