IVF starting soon 😔

Kimberly
My husband and I have been TTC for about a year, and after months of tracking my cycles, I noticed my ovulation was really irregular. I went to the doctor and she was concerned, so she sent me and my husband for testing. My pelvic ultrasound, bloodwork and HSG came back normal, but my husband's semen analyses came back abnormal. We were immediately referred to a fertility specialist, who told us our chance at naturally getting pregnant was about 1% within 7 years and 5-8% with IUI. So our only really good chance at getting pregnant is IVF. I start bloodwork soon and then will start meds. I have a family member and close friend who did IVF and succeeded the first time. I'm just nervous and scared. Do we do genetic testing? I say no, it's in God's hands, and it's something we wouldn't know if it happened naturally, so it's not something that's necessary. But of course I still have that little fear in the back of my mind. Are there things I can do to help the success rate? Is there anything I need to do in general to make the process easier? Are there any women presently going through IVF treatments or have gone through them that can give me some advice on the whole situation? Thanks in advance!!
