Painful periods after miscarriage?

I had the start of a natural miscarriage in Sept. 2015 but couldn't pass all of the tissue and ended up having a D&C in mid-October. I've had really benign, painless periods my whole life (I'm 26) but since the MC, they've been really painful. I started AF today and it's such a punch in the gut (literally and figuratively) since we started TTC again about 2 cycles ago.  I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this??
