Pain during sex

I am 12 weeks and 5 days. Recently, I have been having intercourse with my partner and it has been very uncomfortable and painful. I have three children and never felt this uncomfortable. We have more intercourse when I am pregnant and often in a day. Does anyone have any experience in this area or suggestions? I don't want to turn him off but it hurt really bad.
