Does anybody use wic during pregnancy?

I'm not sure if it's different for each state but I'm in Illinois and have wic and have to go back to get more checks in 3 weeks. She told me it would be a group meeting lasting about 20 min. I'm wondering will the checks be the same as I'm getting now or will they be different? Also does wic give you a free car seat? I'm currently 18 weeks

Check with your local health department. They may have a grant that can give you a car seat.

I'm going to at the end of this pregnancy and our wic does food and everything food related for baby, here they give you one free car seat per child. MN

Wic is just for food to help out mommy and baby once baby is here...they do not give free car seats (not here at least in MN) BUT I am going to this FREE place called pregnancy choices where you can do 8hrs of classes/life coaching and you earn either a travel system...crib or playyard...so thats how I'm plannin on getting my crib hehe.

Every state WIC program is different and has different requirements and items they give for free. Mississippi doesn't give car seats but sometimes they have free breast pumps for moms returning to work. Your local health dept or family and children's services can let you know what you would be eligible for.

I'm going to sign up for WIC here in NM. My understanding is it's just food. But I also have NM Medicaid and if I complete a total of 8 prenatal visits and have my dr sign off, I send the form to insurance and they send me a free car seat and portable crib. After baby is born and I go to my appt with my Dr then I get 1 free box of diapers.
