First baby bath?

Anyone chose not to let them bathe their baby when they were first born or choosing not to do it?

I'm not having her bathed in hospital. And waiting probably a week after she's born to bath her. The vernix the baby comes out with over their body is great for their skin and besides a wipe down after birth there really is no reason to bath her until she's about a week.

I told the staff that I wanted to do everything. Feeding, changing, bathing, the whole shebang. The staff should respect your wishes, this is your baby. And you are not required to bathe your baby at the hospital, it is up to you.

At the hospital they clean her off but left a layer of vernix on her because the nurse said it was great for the babys skin.

We waited for 10 days for a bath until He's stump fell off and everything was healed. I gave him some wipe downs with a cloth after about 4-6 days I think I don't really remember.

They usually just wipe the baby down I thought. I didn't bathe my first born until she was about a week old, give or take a few days

The hospital I am delivering at routinely delays baths till day 2 at least....they are up to date on all the new studies and very mom/baby friendly.

I requested they didn't give baby a bath. I have him his first little sponge bath the next day in our room. The brought a baby Warner so he wouldn't get cold. It was great!

That first bath when they're born I was fine with but I didn't give her bother till she was a month old even then I avoid soap
