Could be a part of your plug, but that's not the whole thing. Mucous plug is fairly large! When I lost mine with my son in 2014, it looked like a jellyfish tinged with blood. You can lose pieces of your plug throughout pregnancy but it regenerates.

Looks like discharge to me, I get it all the time and even heavier than that at times. Hate it. And does panick me at times.

I never noticed mine come out with first. Could be mucus plug, everyone's is different sizes....just keep track if u start contractions.
