Babies first bath?

Question

How many of you have delayed your babies first bath so that they can have the antimicrobial properties of the vernix protect your baby? I was wondering how long you waited. Did you wait 24 hours or did you wait until you went home?

It wasn't really up to me. They bathed her at the hospital when she was almost 24 hours old.

I waited 24hours and my LO hasn't had any skin issues. I didn't know about this with my 1st and he had a bit of cradle cap or what ever it's called. And real bad tiny red bumps all over his face.

I waited untill the morning I left the hospital to wash my son, wanted to keep the vernix on him as long as possible

At hospital they bathed my daughter two days after she was born :)

2 days after birth is what they had me do we were in the hospital for 4 days before we could go home

I had my baby at 10:20am on a Tuesday and we bathed her Wednesday or Thursday night.

The nurse actually told me the benefits of not fully bathing her. All the nurse did was wipe her down and wash the goop out of her hair she left the vernix on her just basically fluffed her up.

They bathed her right after she was born and I didn't care. I've bathed her every day since.
