What do you do with your umbilical cord after birth?

I'm a ftm and just read an article about this and would like to know what everyone does

Do you mean when it falls off? Or do you mean right after birth? After birth they cut it and then clamp it. Then it dries and falls off eventually.

If you're talking about after it falls off, i saved my daughters in a little baggy in a tin can along with her hospital bracelets and little things from the hospital. I plan to put my next daughters in a bag also after i have her.

I'd like to donate it so they can have a better understanding of the stem cells inside of it. Hopefully one day cord blood banking will actually be worth doing, until then, I'll just donate it so they can do more research
