Breast Milk?

I know it may seem like a stupid question, but nobody has ever brought it up... so when does breast milk start to produce?

If ur talking about during pregnancy then pretty much straight away, I stopped breastfeeding 8 months ago but I checked to see if I still had milk and it had dried up .. A few wks pg I could squeeze some out lol .. Like the previous lady said ur breasts make colostrum first then 2-4 days after u have bubs ur proper milk will come in ..colostrum is yellow and milk is white , don't be concerned by the colour lol I know some have thought there milk wasn't good cause of the colour .

I don't remember how far along I was with my first, but I remember sitting on my bed, holding tissue against each oft boobs. My husband came home and asked me what I was doing. I just sobbed and said "I'm leaking and I can't make it stop!!" Lol! Shortly after, I got some comfy nursing sleep bras and some breast pads and I was good to go! It was kinda hilarious looking back on it!

You start with colostrum which is super rich thick milk and the baby gets that right away, then it takes a day or two for the milk to come in.  When it does your breasts feel really full and your skin tight. But in awhile your milk will adjust. Also nipples will be very sore for the first few weeks, but as soon as you get past those few weeks they don't hurt at all. Good luck!

The more you nurse after baby is born, the faster your mill tends to come in.  With my last baby, my milk came in about 1 day after he was born.  I slept with him next to me in the bed and just nursed pretty much around the clock.

It can take up to 10 days for your milk to come in after birth.

If this is your first or one in a long while the breast milk can be removed or expressed at 35 weeks (everyone is different some sooner some later). Your body is preparing and growing more milk ducts as soon as you conceive. Isn't it so cool.
