When did you stop breastfeeding?

I always had to supplement my baby because my milk supply is low. Now that I’m back to work my supply dropped significantly and I barely pump 2oz per day. I’m nursing in the morning and night time but I’m not sure how much my baby is getting. When is time to stop? :(

I just had #4...and it varied with each of them. I always stopped when I went back to work, that's just due to how my schedule is (not a 9-5) job. One of mine never latched at all and we ended up formula feeding from day 1. She is perfectly fine and there is no difference between her and her sisters that had breastmilk. So don't let anyone make you feel bad for choosing one over the other.

Also want to say that there are are reasons to continue to breastfeed aside from food. For example, you could do it just for bonding at bedtime. Do what works for you.

My first was 11 days shy of 3 years old. Second was 32 months. This was through split custody (they were gone 3 nights in a row every week) so I was pumping every 2 hours day or night, taking domperidone blessed thistle and fenugreek, walking over every day to drop off whatever milk I had pumped. As well as thrush, mastitis, blocked ducts, lip ties, inverted nipples, severe jaundice and nursing strikes. I was something I felt VERY strongly about for my kids so I didn't let there be another option. It sure as hell wasn't easy but it was doable.

I stopped at 7 months (my supply had been gradually tapering off since 3 months due to work and pumping), but don't feel ashamed or let anyone make you feel bad if you do stop. I would cry because I was so conflicted about it, but finally realized Baby was just as happy and healthy with formula. This article I just read strikes home!

It's up to you. How much you pump has no relationship to how much the baby gets. Some women need extra help with an LC or lots of practice to get pumping and some women just pump a bit at a time. It's totally normal to only get a couple of ounces if you are exclusively breastfeeding and baby is taking a lot of your milk. The only way to determine if your baby is getting enough to eat is by diapers and weight, if your baby is producing multiple dirty diapers a day and is gaining weight then he is getting enough to eat. If your baby doesn't show any signs of dehydration, or malnutrition then he is getting enough to eat

It's up to you. My baby will be 3 months Monday and today was my last day breastfeeding. I still will pump but he's getting to the point where he needs to take more milk then I can supply.  Plus my husband can help feed now!

When you want to stop. I have to take domperidone to have any sort of supply. I plan on slowing down around 8 months. We're planning on trying for another baby and I want my cycles to even out.

Have you tried fenugreek? I had to take 4 at a time 3 times a day for it to work but I was completely dried up when I started taking it and now I produce more than I did before I dried up
