I have a glider and it really helped me with comfort. Find a chair that is comfortable that you don't mind nursing (or sitting) in for hours. We still sit in it and read to him each night.

I wish I would have had one for my first daughter. She loves to be rocked even now at 3 yrs old. Luckily my grandma had one at her house when she was a baby. We have one now & I am so glad because I was wanting one for our new baby.

To me it's not a necessity... When I had my son 10 years ago I really wanted a glider but just couldn't afford one. It would have been a little easier to have one but we survived just fine without.
